Preparing & Planning Our Garden

2/21/2020

For years, I have been longing to get my garden going, more so now that I have kids!

The thought of growing and providing vegetables fresh out of our garden for our family and friends provides me with such a good feeling!

Not only will we be sharing and providing healthy foods for our kids, but we will reap the benefits in more ways. What a great way to be outside soaking up some sunshine while working in the garden. My mom and dad taught me so much (and still do) when we were outside doing yard work or working in the garden. I hope my kids will enjoy learning about the garden and the entire process, too, learning about how we grow these nutritious, yummy veggies!

Let’s talk about preparing to get our garden off the ground!

His Truths: God Is Love [February]

2/16/2020

This year is moving along- February, already!

Continuing into our monthly study of His Truths, His promises to me and you, our lives, our family's lives!

February's theme was already kind of planned out, I mean, it is the month of "love" after all!

It really set in to make this month about His love while I was preparing a Bible lesson to do with my babies.

You see, every month, I choose a theme to do a couple of Bible studies on with them, even if it is just me talking to them about it, going down the road! They do listen, at this age, anyways!

The first topic I studied on for the girls was "God's Love".

Four Ways To Manage Your Anxiety | Mom So Hard

Anxiety is not something that is new to me.

I had anxiety as a young adult, but ever since I had my last baby, I dealt and still deal with postpartum anxiety. Postpartum anxiety is anxiety on a whole-nother level!

To some degree, every parent experiences some degree of anxiety: it just comes with the territory.

When you factor in the huge life changes, hormonal shifts, and exhaustion (especially in the first couple of weeks and months), it makes a lot of sense that about 80% of new mothers report feeling baby blues. It’s normal.

But, when is it ‘not normal,’ and when do you need to do something about it?

Simple Ways To Express Yourself Through Your Home | Homemaking

2/3/2020

Have you ever thought about the fact that there are many ways to express yourself - and everyone is so different, too!

You can express yourself through art, sports, writing, talking, cooking, and more, but have you ever thought about expressing yourself through your home?

Think about it -- you are in your home more than anywhere else (at least most of the time), so shouldn’t it be a place that represents yourself?

A place that you feel comfortable in?

A place that you love?

Easy Ways to Maintain/Add Value to Your Home | Other

2/2/2020

Every year, we try to do projects to add value to our home, some out of necessity, some out of just wanting our home to look nicer.

Some people call this maintenance, sprucing up, freshening up, adding value… either way it can be on the many parts of being a homeowner, that is fun, yet possibly expensive.

Sprucing up your home can be as simple as cleaning up after your family, to bigger, more costly projects.

The longer we put off any of these projects (really, any project or task in life!), the more it seems to feel as though it is “falling apart” or in “complete disrepair”. This causes me and many homeowners to feel stressed out, and like they won’t be able to catch back up.

Spring will basically be here.... tomorrow!

It is one of my favorite season, everything feels fresh and happy!

My family loves to be outside! Now that my girls are at the age where they can actually play, (instead of being in a stroller while we clean up or the other plays), I am really excited to get them outside this year!

Before that can happen, my yard is going to need some work in order to be ready for all that fun!

I told my husband of my plans of wanting our yard to be a place we can all play and enjoy.

How We Started Pre-School At Home | Mom So Hard

My baby wasn’t quiet ready for preschool when time came.

I know we cannot be alone, but it still made me feel like I had failed her.

It's a crazy feeling, wanting to send them to school so they don't get behind, but not quiet ready to send them. She wasn't either, when school began she was very much attached to her momma, and also wasn't quiet potty trained enough for the preschools in our area.

Since I felt like I was failing her, we began doing "homework" at home, or where ever we may be. Or as she calls it, "playing homework"!

She really does enjoy it, and sometimes it is more work than it is fun, and I am NO teacher, but I feel confident that we are moving in the right direction, and am reassured she will be fine, because we have some time before K-4.

Our Five Favorite Laundromat Tips! | Mom So Hard, Other

1/23/2020

At one point in our lives, we will find ourselves in need of a laundromat and their services!

A laundromat can be a great resource in many different times and seasons of life.

Maybe you are renting a living space that doesn't have the option for a washer and dryer or laundry areas. Even college dorms have laundromat style washrooms.

Other times may be instances where we are temporarily without our own washer and/or dryer. Like the case of being a first time home owner/renter; both cases you often have to supply your own large appliances. There may even be times you may be required to make a trip or two, to the laundromat due to the fact that your washer and dryer are out of service.

About a year ago, I really began to focus on my time in His word, my time with Him and developing my relationship with God, in addition to bettering myself, mentally and physically!

Along the way, I read a personal development book, and one of the subjects in the book spoke about using the gifts God gave you to minister or to bless others.

I feel like God has given me the gift to 'create'. I really enjoy crafting, painting and drawing, and I have always had a passion for writing.

Not long after I read this book, He laid it on my heart to begin writing.

January and February Reads | Book Club

1/12/2020

As always, I am adding to my reading list, but this year, while I am adding "fun" reads, I am making choices to add intentional reading to my day.

I want to add more books to help build me as a mom, a wife, and whatever this person God is working to mold me into!

I have always had "issues" with buying books. And notebooks. And planners.

Okay, so I may just be a good old fashioned "nerd", but I don't see that as a problem! I also have a problem with buying books and not being able to part with them, they are like my trophies!

Here is a list of books I am planning to read in January and February.

Hey Ya'll! My name is Amy, I am a girl mom (times two), married to one of my favorite guys, a daughter, a Jesus follower and so much more. I love preworkout and a great sweat, I collect books like trophies, I love to cook but hate a dirty kitchen. I love grungy country music, bell bottom pants, turquoise (the mineral) and converses. Our house is full of love and laughter as we navigate this busy life together, focusing on keeping the important parts of life the biggest parts, and building a healthy and safe place in our family of four!
