Joy. It’s a word that we all aim for, but rarely do we focus on it. With our busy schedules, never ending to-do lists, and work that is on our plates, it can be hard to really focus on the things that actually bring us joy. Here are five things to do to bring yourself joy, if you find yourself needing more of it in your life:
Say the word "Joy" frequently
Repeating and contemplating the word joy can actually create that emotion. Say it over and over, varying the speed, tone, and tempo until you laugh. Notice how your body feels when you say the word. Did your chest expand? Did your face relax? Think about what joy means to you. Be as specific as possible, imagining the feeling of joy, the images it conjures up, perhaps even the people and situations who trigger joy. Sign off your emails with the word joy. Paint the word on a smooth rock and keep it on your desk. More joy will rise up if you simply invite it to do so.
Do a home improvement project
As most of us are aware, we have spent a lot of time at home over the past year. That’s why I think that creating a home you love is so important. At the end of the day, you come home and you want to feel relaxed, happy, and satisfied with the place that you are retreating to at the end of each day. If you are not 100% happy with your home, do something about it. It can be as small as doing just one home improvement project, such as hardwood floor refinishing Atlanta. If you choose to do that renovation, you need to call TriArt Hardwood Floors - Atlanta because they are truly the best in the area. TriArt Hardwood Floors - Atlanta believes that quality matters. That is why they invest heavily in the finest equipment, best products, and ongoing training program(s) for their entire team. The owner, Hugo Simoes, says: “If you are looking for beautiful hardwood floors that complement your home’s design and stand the test of time, with a guarantee of complete satisfaction, you have come to the right place.” Do you want custom-crafted, beautifully honed hardwood floors? Then, you must call TriArt. They can help with all things related to hardwood floors. From stairs, to refinishing, to doing a custom project, they are all ears and will make your dreams a reality!
focus on gratitude
Be grateful for what you have in your life now. Take a few moments every day to really savor what makes you happy and give thanks for it. It could be waking up in a warm bed, enjoying a piece of cake in a cafe while watching the world go by, walking with your dog (or kids!) in the fresh air, or simply being healthy. When you create feelings of gratitude, you change the feeling in your heart. Just think what effect having a heart bursting with gratitude can have on your mind and your body.
Learn a new skill
We are put on this planet to expand and grow as humans. Stagnation can be one of most frustrating and joy sucking feelings. Whether you’re learning a new skill that can help you with your career, relationships, health, or just learning for the pleasure of growth it’s all good. You can go as simple as reading an interesting book in an area you’d like to grow or dive into a class to get that student experience.
Find a career that you love
We spend so much of our day-to-day life at work, so why not find something that you love? Is it hard to go back to school or take a leap of faith in a new career? Definitely. But, potential joy and happiness makes it so worth it. My friend's husband is in a career that he loves, but works with people that make his job very stressful. My friend was saying how that stress extends into their day-to-day life at home, making things very tense. He is currently job searching, but is nervous about change. It will be worth it though, for the potential happiness. Don’t let fear hold you back!

Hey Ya'll! My name is Amy, I am a girl mom (times two), married to one of my favorite guys, a daughter, a Jesus follower and so much more. I love preworkout and a great sweat, I collect books like trophies, I love to cook but hate a dirty kitchen. I love grungy country music, bell bottom pants, turquoise (the mineral) and converses. Our house is full of love and laughter as we navigate this busy life together, focusing on keeping the important parts of life the biggest parts, and building a healthy and safe place in our family of four!
