I began using this blog as an outlet, and I still do. But, He told me, "There is more". In the summer of 2019, I wrote my first Bible study, which is one thing I am still so proud of, as I never once imagined I would ever do that. My first Bible study was a Proverbs 31 Woman, you can find it here! I am actually writing a more in depth version of this study, that will be published at a later date. At the end of 2019, He laid it on my heart to share a habit I have made myself do, daily, and build something for others off of it. As a part of my daily study and time with Him, I have made it a point to write out the scripture I am studying. Why You Should Write Out ScriptureFrom what I can tell, this is a popular way to study God's word; I have friends that practice this, and seen other women in church doing so. It allows His word and the message you are studying to really "soak" up into our minds and hearts. Not to mention, the time it takes for me to write the verse or verses out, allows me time to slow down and really process what we are studying, which is a very powerful method when it comes to studying and retention, allowing us to understand God's word even better. It also allows Him another opportunity to speak to us. I didn't know this, until I began doing some research behind the reason why I and others write out their scripture, but this is actually a commandment! In Deuteronomy, chapter 17, verses 18 through 20, God gave the future kings of Israel a commandment to write scripture out. It was a way of ensuring that their hearts would stay with the people of the country, and that they wouldn't loose touch with what is right, according to the commandments. "...he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law...he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully the words of this law..." |
It helps me so much! This has really been a great way for me to make sure I spend sometime of my day in His word, no matter how busy I am, I can write out a verse and ponder on it!
I love this post because God plays apart in many or our lives. I totally believe that it's because of him that I have the things I do in life and I thank him every day. Writing scriptures out is a great way to study because writing something down helps you process it and remember it.
We couldn’t agree more with you! He has blessed us, and continues to be more than we deserve! Hope you will try out our journal!
Aww! Thank you so much! I am glad you found us, I can't wait to hear what you think about the journal!
This is a great way to spend time studying God's words everyday. May He help us to be does of His words as we read.
Amen! Thank you, I think it has helped me so much, I always want to share whats working for me!
What a great idea. I've never heard of doing this for scripture and this sounds like a great way to really take in the Word. Thanks for the suggestion and freebie!
I didn't know it was actually a thing of it's own, I just have been doing as a part of my studies, then it dawned on me how much it alone really does help! I hope you enjoy the journal, let me know!
Great article and a great way to study! I'm going to try writing out scripture..thanks!
