His Truths: New Beginnings [January]

Studying the Bible and His word is one of the most important things we can do as Christians. 
 
Over the last year, I have really "dug" into His word, looking for new studies every chance I get; even creating a few studies on my own!

That last one, writing studies for others to use, is something I never thought I would do, but it is one of the things I am most proud of- for sure. 

I have been thinking a lot about what I can create for the upcoming year, for my readers, followers, you, my friends and family. I have some studies I am praying about, and working on.

But, I wanted to start here, with focusing on His truths; his truths for you, about you and your families' lives! 

I came across this idea a couple of weeks ago, while browsing Instagram, I found a fellow blogger's IG account. I was drawn in by her images of Bible Journaling, and notes in her Bible. 

If you know me, or read my post about Reasons to Journal, you know that I am a sucker for artistic Bible notes! 

I explored more on her IG account, and found her website, where she posts monthly war room posts, which I am pretty obsessed with.

I prayed that God would lead me where I needed to be. 

Over and over again, I saw fellow bloggers posting about choosing a verse for the year. 

That's when it hit me.

I want to choose a theme or focus each month of this year, and I want to share it with you all, in hopes that you all participate with me, and grow in your own walk with Him.

​January's theme, naturally, is New Beginnings. 

New Beginnings

I chose this theme, because being the start of the New Year (New Decade), so many of us are searching and wanting to start new habits, new projects, maybe even new lives. 

Honestly? 

I myself am one of those people. 

No, I don't want to start a new life. I love my family, my job, my side work here, and my life.

I already have a great workout routine in place; though it needs to be cleaned up and I need to be more strict about it. (Holidays are one thing to really get you off tract!)

I am always starting new projects, so that is not it. 

I want to give myself  a New Beginning, in the sense that I want the chance to become a better follower of Jesus (and become closer to Him). I want to become a better mother. I want to be the wife that my husband needs and wants, I want us to work on our marriage like we should have been doing all along (hello, "seven year itch"). 

While creating this post and researching it out, I was reminded that God's mercies are new every morning! 

The Feeling of New

It is a feeling that is difficult to describe, in a way!

You know that feeling you get when you take the tags off a new outfit?

Maybe you get that 'new' feeling when opening a new journal, or book. 

There is just something special and magical about that 'new' feeling.

There is something in our spirit, as children or even as adults, that is drawn toward the new things, and even the new beginnings that so many of us are searching for at the turn of the every new year.

Some of us just want a fresh start, some of us long for positive changes in our lives. Some of us are looking for an escape. 

No matter what you are looking for, a new beginning gives us a chance to grow, to create and learn how to adapt differently. 

Our Creator Loves New Beginnings

I believe that our creator, God, loves new beginnings; and that He knew we would need them, to allow us to feel fresh, to become who He wants us to be, because He loves us more than anyone could imagine. 

God reminds us in many places throughout the Bible, that we are gifted new beginnings daily. Weekly. Monthly. 

He tells us this specifically in Lamentations 3:22-23, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

January Truths: New Beginnings

TRUTH 1 | HIS COMPASSION FOR YOU

• You are allowed a new start, daily. God loves you the greatest of all, and because of His love, His compassion for you never fails, they are new every morning. Wake up and stand tall and confident, pray that He will guide your path to lead you where you need to be, and thank Him for the chance to start anew. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

TRUTH 2 |  BE HUMBLE

• God has promised you forgiveness and healing. He promises that if you are humble, pray, seek Him, and turn from your old ways and habits, He will hear you. He will not only forgive you of your sins, He promises to 'heal your land'. 'Your land' could be a multitude of things, it could mean your marriage, your job, your finances, and so on. He will bless you and reward you. (Chronicles 7:14- If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven, and I will forgive their sins and will heal their land.)​

​TRUTH 3 | HE IS PREPARING SOMETHING GREAT FOR YOU

• ​Stop living and dwelling in the past. Whoever or whatever hurt you, let it go. Stop pushing away your blessings of what God is preparing for you. He has forgiven you, you are to forgive the wrongdoing of the past (from other people, or maybe even yourself). He is creating something new for you, something for your future! A better future! (Isaiah 43:18-19- Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing new things! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the waste land.)

TRUTH 4 | YOUR FUTURE

• Maybe your new beginning seems very humble and maybe even feels like your not making any progress, God wants you to not worry. You see, there is absolutely no way for us to understand His plans, Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He has plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope and a future! Your future will be prosperous! It may not seem as though any of these things are so, but remember, He makes everything beautiful in it's own time, in His time, that is. (Jeremiah 29:11- "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and to not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.". Job 8:7- Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be. Ecclesiastes 3:11- He has made everything beautiful in its time, He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.)

How To Apply These Truths

Write these truths down in your prayer journal. 

Write them in your Bible. 

Print them out and place them in places you can see them. 

Use these truths to pray over your dreams, goals, your new habits. 
​
When you are feeling frustrated or down, remember these truths that God has written for you, remember what He has promised about your new beginnings. Remember He has a plan for you. Remember that your hard work on these new beginnings will not go unnoticed in His eyes, He will bless you!
