Fruits of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23
The Fruits of the Spirit are listed below as they are found in. Galatians:
To really understand why it’s important for not only us, but for our loved ones for US to possess these characteristics I feel that it is important we dissect them, study them individually, you can read more on each fruit here!
At the end of the day, God wants us to be happy, to share His love and message, and be like Him, all of these fruits are crucial in doing just that. First, let’s talk about why Paul, the author, used Fruit as an analogy. Fruit translated into Greek means, a singular, natural, living thing. Paul used Fruit to show us the products of the Holy Spirit, which lives inside each of us who believe in God. The fruits are not produced by us the believer, but by the Holy Spirit. The reason for the singularity of the word Fruit, is because each and every one of these nine fruits, work together as one. I remember learning this analogy at a young age, in elementary Bible classes or in Children’s church, either way, it was a really simple concept for my young mind to grasp, probably because my mom had been teaching me about our fruits of labor in her garden! And Fruit is fun! I mean lemons are totally in right now, I wanted to name my youngest daughter, Lemon for crying out loud! Don’t worry I didn’t! I blame it on the fact I was watching Hart of Dixie on Netflix during that pregnancy. Anyways. Just like a garden, the fruits in our Spirit need time to grow and to cultivate. They don’t bloom over night. Even more like a garden, we have to fight against weeds that can take away from growing, pesky bugs that can kill our fruits, Some people look at the weeds and bugs as our past sins, while they are, most definitely, they are more than that. Anything that is not of God can kill our gardens growth, easily. Friends that are not on the same path as we are, negativity from loved ones. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to "de-weed" those sins and sinful desires. We can say no to our sinful desires and lusts by taking God's way, a way that He faithfully provides, day in and day out. By taking His way, we give the Holy Spirit more control over our lives! He begins to do more and more through us each day, ridding our lives of sinful nature. He shapes us and grows us to look like Jesus!
